With Love, from Old Town (November)

With Love, From Old Town is a monthly subscription service where members receive one new release a month that is more-often-than-not signed. We focus on debut or sophomoric novels, generally within the genre of literary fiction. You can sign up to join With Love with a 6 or 12-month subscription.

Toward the end of each month, we will get a glimpse into the selection process for With Love by sharing Program & Partnerships Coordinator Amanda’s monthly newsletter to subscription members. November’s pick was Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

Dear Readers,

We're so excited to share with you all this special edition of one of our favorite books, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. While not a debut, this month we wanted to highlight indigenous wisdom and support a smaller publisher. This edition includes a new cover design, beautiful artwork, and signed broadsides with a quote from the book.

If you've not yet had the pleasure of reading Braiding Sweetgrass, we hope you enjoy seeing plants and nature through the dual lenses of science and plants as teachers. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, and as a botanist, Kimmerer blends these two perspectives beautifully.

Kimmerer offers the perspective that we have just as much to learn from the strawberries, salamanders, algae, and - of course - the sweetgrass, as we do from each other. Braiding Sweetgrass is a celebration of the reciprocal relationship we share with the rest of the world, and we hope you find this book both meditative and inspiring.

As always, we look forward to sharing in the excitement for this book online and on social media with the hashtag #OTBTBR (Old Town Books To Be Read) and by tagging us with @oldtownbooks. Happy reading!

With Love,
